Welcome to Lincoln Academy — a comprehensive, independent secondary school founded in 1801.  For over 200 years, Lincoln Academy has been serving the educational needs of students from Midcoast Maine and beyond.  Our dedicated faculty and staff actively strive to meet the needs of each student, and we are constantly developing new curricula and programs to serve our diverse student population.  Lincoln Academy is ideally situated in Newcastle, Maine at the base of the beautiful Pemaquid Peninsula, and our students enjoy a safe and welcoming environment within which to challenge themselves and grow as individuals.

Students enjoy a wealth of opportunities to explore and experience the natural world. Forests, rivers, beaches, and the rocky coastline along the Atlantic Ocean are all in their “backyard” and further enhance their comprehensive academic experience on campus.  Wherever your interests lie —  in boat building, the creative arts, technology, marine science, poetry, outdoor recreation, literature or economics — we have the courses and programs you want.  You can work on a welding project and take AP courses; take an entrepreneurial studies course and yoga; or design your own program. Our faculty and staff will work with you as you study and explore, ensuring that you have options and opportunities for further growth when you graduate from LA.

2014-15 has been an exciting year at LA!  In September 2014, we launched our Marine Studies and Exploration Program.  In February 2015 classes began in the brand new Cable-Burns Applied Technology and Engineering Center, and resident students and faculty moved into our new residence hall. This expansion of the campus allows us to offer students an even broader personal and academic experience at Lincoln Academy.

We are looking forward to a busy summer at LA. We will begin construction of a synthetic turf athletic field on the site of the current soccer field, and campus will be busy with summer theater and a new summer English Language program. I encourage you to visit us, and  I look forward to meeting you!

Warm regards,

David B. Sturdevant
