The LA Alumni Council is pleased to announce that Ellen (Plummer) Hunt ’63 has been chosen to receive the 2010 Award.
Ellen is a member of the Class of 1963, and, as a student was very active in all aspects of student life at LA. She has continued her dedication to and enthusiasm for LA to the present day.
Ellen joined the alumni Council in 2000 and assumed the duties of Treasurer in 2002. She held this post until 2008, when she retired from the council.
Ellen was an enthusiastic leader on all the council projects: Homecoming, Alumni Basketball games, and the Alumni Banquet.
She worked on the transition from the informal buffet in the gym to a catered banquet in the new Alumni Dining Hall. Every year, she was in charge of the ticket sales and seating arrangements, a challenging job that requires knowledge of alumni of all classes. Ellen also recruited many of the present council members.
Ellen continues to help with development projects such as the annual campaign mailing and is a member of the Hospitality Committee that hosts gatherings in Borland Hall.
In all her involvement with Lincoln Academy, she is attentive to the individuals who constitute the large body of LA alumni and the number of families who have had generations of LA graduates.
Ellen is married to Wilder Hunt, also from the Class of 1963. Ellen and Wilder have three daughters, Danica, LA ’87, Marianne, LA ’89 and Stephanie, LA ’92. She volunteered extensively at Great Salt Bay School when they were in elementary school. She belonged to the Damariscotta Extension Group for 10 years, serving as president for several years, and recently retired after owning an alteration business for many years.
Ellen continues to exemplify thoughtful and tireless service to organizations that serve the greater community.
