Alternative Education student fills a need for Residential Life

The Teague Street Learning Center’s Alternative Education Program provides the students enrolled  with many unique and hands on learning opportunities.  Some of the best opportunities benefit both the student and the larger school community. Lincoln Academy’s residential students are familiar with the face of Jake Abbott (Alternative Education Director, and Dormitory Parent to the residential students.)  Jake’s laid back but determined attitude keeps us in line here at Teague Street and must certainly be valuable to the boys in Hall House.

Austin Beverage, student at the Teague Street Learning Center, and hard worker known well around the community, saw a need at the school for outdoor furniture such as picnic tables as Newcastle is a beautiful place throughout all the seasons.  Austin made two beautiful picnic tables for the students so they could sit outside and chat, work on school work, develop their creativity and enjoy delicious food provided by the school’s stellar chef, Travis Benner.

This is an example of the sense of family and community proudly displayed by the students at Lincoln Academy, tying together our residential program and our Alternative Education programs alike.
