Lincoln Academy’s International Club spearheaded and organized a fundraiser for Typhoon Haiyan Relief in the Philippines and will donate $1248.61 to UNICEF. The International Club is comprised of students from the United States, China, Japan, Korea, Rwanda, Spain, and Vietnam. One of the club’s main goals is to learn about other countries. When a disaster strikes another country, such as this typhoon, the club felt moved to help. Many generous students, faculty, and community members at large donated funds over two weeks. Originally, the goal was to raise $500. After members of the International Club went to every homeroom during lunch, they were able to collect $1148.61. Additionally, the class of 2014 donated $100, which brought the total to $1248.61. The International Club would like to thank all that have donated and worked for this cause to make it a success.
In the past, the International Club has donated funds for Haitian Earthquake relief, Boston Strong, the Tsunami in Japan, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, and the Earthquake in Pakistan.
