On Sunday, March 23rd, nine students and three teachers from Lincoln Academy’s Habitat for Humanity team ran five miles to raise money for their upcoming project in Taos, New Mexico. Team members spent the weeks prior to the run collecting by-the-mile pledges from sponsors, funding their individual shares in the expenses of plane tickets, food, and transportation for the week of their departure on April 19th.
The course began at LA’s Nelson W. Bailey Gymnasium, wrapped around Damariscotta Mills, circling back via Mills Road and up Academy Hill. Participants took off at 1:00 pm, and all had finished by approximately 2:15. The team is continuing fundraising efforts in the final weeks before their trip and would greatly appreciate any donations and support!
