The LA Class of 2015 has been preparing to graduate since there was snow on the ground. LA Commencement is June 4 at 4 pm.

It is graduation season, and a very busy time at Lincoln Academy. Here are some of the events coming up for LA’s graduating seniors, alumni, other students, and families. Many of these events are open to the public.

On Wednesday May 20, the Eagle Awards Ceremony takes place in the gym. Seniors who have maintained a High Honors average for four years will be honored at this assembly, and families are invited to attend. Later that afternoon, at 3:00 in the Dining Commons is the Senior Tea for the Class of 2015 and their families.

On Thursday May 21, Lincoln Academy’s three jazz groups: the Four O’Clock Combo, the Five O’Clock Combo, and the LA Jazz Big Band, will perform in the Spring Jazz Concert at 7:00 PM in the Poe Theater. Suggested donation for this concert is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, with a $15 family maximum. Proceeds benefit the March 2016 Band Trip to New York City.

On Monday May 25 the LA Band will lead the Memorial Day Parade, which starts at 11:00 am near the Newcastle Post Office on Mills Road, turns onto Main Street through Newcastle and Damariscotta and ends at the top of the hill near Damariscotta Baptist Church. The marching band will play Mike Story’s arrangement of John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

On Sunday May 31, the Lincoln Academy Choirs will perform at St. Patrick’s Church at 7 pm. The concert features the Cameo Treble Choir, the Concert Choir, and the award-winning Lincolnnaires. The suggested donation is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Class Night for seniors is on Monday June 1, at 6:30 pm in the Nelson W. Bailey Gymnasium. This is a celebration of this year’s graduating class, where students are recognized and presented with school and community scholarships and awards. The public is welcome to attend.

On Wednesday, June 3, seniors will participate in their Thank You Day at various sites in the Lincoln Academy Community. Thank you day will be followed by the Senior Cookout on the track field from 11:30-12:30. This lunch cookout is for seniors, senior advisors, and members of the Lincoln Academy Alumni Council, who will welcome LA’s newest Alumni. The lunch is sponsored by the Alumni and Development Office. Mr. Mullin’s band will perform again this year.

Wednesday evening June 3 is the annual Lincoln Academy Baccalaureate Ceremony at 7pm  in the Bailey Gymnasium. Seniors will meet at Lincoln Theater at 6:30 and march up Academy Hill for Baccalaureate. Speakers selected by the senior class will provide inspirational messages to the Class of 2015.

This year’s Lincoln Academy Commencement is on Thursday, June 4, at 4 pm. The ceremony will be held on the Colonel Stanley G. Walts Track Field (not the soccer field, as in the past). In case of rain, Commencement will be moved to the Nelson W. Bailey Gymnasium. In that case, seating will be limited, and each graduating senior will have tickets for their family and friends. If it is a sunny day, everyone is welcome!

On June 5 and 6, Lincoln Academy invites alumni back to campus for the Annual Alumni Weekend, starting with a reception on Friday night at Borland Hall, home of Head of School David Sturdevant. On Saturday June 6, events start at 4 pm with a tour of the new campus buildings, the Cable-Burns Applied Technology and Engineering Center (ATEC) and the new Residence Hall, which houses a large number of the Lincoln Academy Residential Students. After the tours, there will be a reception with live music and a cash bar, and the traditional banquet starting at 6 pm, catered by Stone Cove Catering. Lincoln Academy Alumni from all classes are invited to attend Alumni Weekend events. To find out more information (including menu choices and costs of the events) please click on this link or contact Alumni Director Phil Page at 563-3596 ext. 123.

Lincoln Academy final exams take place June 8-11. Both June 10 and 11 will have exams in the morning only, and students will be released on those days at 11:20 am. June 12 is reserved as an exam make-up day. Students will need to provide their own transportation for make up exams on the June 12, as this is not a scheduled busing day.

Summer vacation for Lincoln Academy students starts on June 12, and goes until September 2 (for incoming 9th graders) and September 3 (for 10th-12th graders).

All of these dates and other Lincoln events are available on the Lincoln Academy online calendar
