An iconic Maine landmark stands not 25 minutes away from the school. The Lighthouse at Pemaquid Point was the first lighthouse to be portrayed on American currency when it appeared on the Maine quarter. The lighthouse has guided mariners since the 1820s and receives over 100,000 visitors each summer. Our residential students had the opportunity to picnic on the site, eating something just as iconic: Maine lobster.
Some students did wonder HOW one does eat a lobster:
With a little help from the experienced, we all soon got down to the happy job of munching on lobster and enjoying the Maine coast line with friends.
There is never a bad time to take photos at Pemaquid.
Heck, there were even lobster selfies:
Most important of all was the chance to make closer connections with friends and continue the adventure of getting to know Maine a little better.
