LA visits the Hard Rock Cafe.

Lincoln Academy students traveled with music teacher Liz Matta to the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston on May 10.

Members of the third trimester History of Rock and Roll class visited the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston on May 10.

“The Hard Rock Cafe is as close to a museum as we can get short of traveling to the actual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio,” said Liz Matta. “None of the students had ever been to a Hard Rock Cafe and a few never to Boston. We got there when they opened so students could spend time looking at the memorabilia.” Each student chose three pieces to photograph. They will research each piece and will make a presentation to the class in the upcoming weeks.

“Hard Rock has over 180 restaurants and hotels around the world,” continued Matta. “The Boston Hard Rock has an entire room dedicated to memorabilia from Boston based bands, such as Boston and Aerosmith. The other rooms contain items from a wide variety of musicians and bands such as Jim Morrison, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez to Fleetwood Mac, Guns N’ Roses and Sting.”

“We were the only one’s in the restaurant at first. We had the place to ourselves and were able to take our time looking around,” said freshman, Brooke Sykes. “It was great to see the memorabilia in person as opposed to seeing it in just pictures.”
