On Thursday, November 3 at 6 pm, Skidompha Library and Lincoln Academy will co-host a public forum on ballot initiatives 2, 4, and 5. The forum will feature discussion led by experts on each question and students from two Lincoln Academy classes, Government and Politics and AP Macroeconomics.
Both classes are taught by Lincoln Academy Social Studies teacher Kelley Duffy, who explained, “We’re limiting the focus of this forum to three ballot initiatives to increase the depth of the discussion we can have in an hour and a half, and to explore the questions most closely aligned with our course curriculum. With this in mind, AP Macroeconomics students will introduce and lead discussion of Questions 2 (Stand Up for Students) and 4 (increasing the minimum wage), and Government and Politics students will introduce and lead discussion of Question 5 (ranked choice voting).”
“Part of the library’s mission is to help voters be informed about their choices, said Pam Gormley, Director of Skidompha Library. “We are delighted to partner with Lincoln Academy students for this event.” The forum will take place in the library’s Porter Meeting Hall, and is free and open to the public.
