On Sunday, December 4 at 6 pm at the Damariscotta Baptist Church the Lincoln Academy bands will offer their “Winter Pops!” concert, featuring all of LA’s instrumental groups: Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Big Band, the Four and Five O’clock Jazz Combos, and a final combined band piece.
Liz Matta, who teaches music and directs the bands and jazz bands at LA promises, “we will have some Holiday themed pieces including ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ arranged by Carl Strommen, who is the head adjudicator for the New York City Heritage Festival the Wind Ensemble took part in in April. There will also be some traditional band/jazz pieces such as ‘Toccata for Band’ by Frank Erickson and Freddie Hubbard’s ‘Little Sunflower,’ arranged by Paul Murtha.”
The public is welcome to attend this concert, which features more than 70 Lincoln Academy student musicians. Tickets are available at the door for a suggested donation of $5 for Seniors/Student, $10 for adults, and $20 for families. All proceeds will benefit the Wind Ensemble trip to New York City, which will take place in the spring of 2018.
