On Friday, May 12, two Lincoln Academy graduating seniors signed letters of intent to play college athletics next year at their chosen colleges. Brie Wajer will play basketball for Wingate University in North Carolina, and Bailey Plourde will play gold for Centre College in Kentucky.
In his remarks, Lincoln Academy Athletic Director KJ Anastasio said that this is the first of what will hopefully become an annual tradition for Lincoln Academy Athletes.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be part of today’s ceremony honoring Bailey Plourde and Brie Wajer. They are two very special individuals, not only for their athletic achievement, but also for the character they both possess. They are scholars. They are leaders on both of their teams and in the community. They volunteer. They fundraise.….and the list goes on and on. But most importantly they are roles models that we can be proud. The two schools and their new coaches that are receiving these student-athletes are very lucky, indeed. But, after all, we are here for their athletic achievement. These two certainly have made LA proud over the last four years. It is a dream of all young athletes to play at the next level, but very few accomplish this goal. That achievement is not given, it is earned.”
