Lincoln Academy sophomore, Kayleigh Tolley, participated in the Maine NATS (National Association for Teachers of Singing) Classical Competition on Saturday, April 29 at Bates College. She performed for a panel of three judges in Division II (for high school freshmen and sophomores). She scored in the top three in the preliminary round and went on to the afternoon finals where she performed for a different set of judges and won first place.

This is the second time this year that Tolley has placed first at NATS: she also won the Musical Theater Competition in November of 2016.

Her voice teacher and choir director, Beth Preston, says of Kayleigh, “Kayleigh’s accomplishments are not an accident or simply about talent. She’s the poster child for amazing work ethic and practicing till she gets it right. Her judges’ comments were helpful, critical, and full of praise, particularly for her amazing ability to communicate the text.”  Kayleigh will be playing the role of Little Red Riding Hood in Heartwood Regional Theater’s summer production of Into the Woods.
