2018 Homecoming kicks off a day early this year with the boys’ and girls’ cross country meets taking place on Thursday, September 20 at 4 pm.
On Friday, September 21 the traditional Homecoming parade featuring the LA marching band will through downtown Damariscotta at 6 pm, followed by the bonfire and open turf at school, and Homecoming Dance in the LA gym. Friday evening events are accompanied by the LA Alumni Council’s traditional cookout, selling hamburgers, hotdogs, and drinks.
Saturday, September 21 kicks off with the First Annual Homecoming Hustle, a 5K sponsored by the LA cross country team, which begins at 8:30 am on the lower parking lot beside the baseball field. Registration ($10 adults/$5 students) begins at 7:45 am.
After the race there are home games all day, beginning with varsity field hockey at 10 am, followed by JV field hockey (11:30 am), JV girls’ soccer (1 pm), JV boys’ soccer (3 pm), varsity girls’ soccer (5 pm), and varsity boys soccer at 7 pm under the lights. The LA Boosters will be offering barbequed chicken dinners for sale during the afternoon games, as well as a pie sale to support LA teams.
The final event is Sunday’s Homecoming Golf Scramble at Wawanock golf course.
This year’s Homecoming theme is “Harry Potter and the Order of the Eagle,” and contests and events during the week leading up to Homecoming, including a hall decorating contest to honor the four Hogwarts Houses, dress up days, Harry Potter trivia, and other events, will celebrate the theme as well as Lincoln Academy history. Each of Lincoln Academy’s four classes will have a chance to earn points for their classes during these contests, which build class loyalty and school spirit.
