The Lincoln Academy choirs will hold a Silent Auction at Skidompha Library from Tuesday October, 22 through Saturday, November 3. The choirs are raising money to pay for their tour to New York City on April 4-7. The twenty-eight-voice select choir, Lincolnaires, will perform at the Riverside Church in Manhattan as part of the World Strides choral competition. Thirty other choir students will travel with the Lincolnaires to see two Broadway musicals, The Band’s Visit and Once on This Island. The group will also visit the American Museum of Natural History and participate in a Broadway workshop conducted by a cast member from one of the shows they attend.
“My philosophy is that all kids who would like to go on the trip should go on the trip, regardless of their family’s financial situation,” said L.A. choral director, Beth Preston. “We raise as much money as possible to offset the final cost. In the past, we have had some amazing donors from the community who helped the group or assisted individual students.”
All auction items will be on display in the atrium of the library. Final bids will be on Saturday, November 3 before 11:00 a.m.
