The cast of Lincoln Academy’s 2019 One Act play “The Snow Maiden” will perform at the Regional One Act Festival at Medomak Valley High School on Saturday, March 9 from 12-3 pm.

Lincoln Academy’s 2019 original One Act play “The Snow Maiden” will compete in the Maine Drama Regional Festival at Medomak Valley High School on Saturday, March 9. In additional to an original script written in collaboration between LA theater teacher Griff Braley and his students, the play features original live music, costumes, lighting and set design, hand made puppets, and original choreography all created by LA students.

The Maine Principal’s Association One Act Festival requires that plays entered in the competition run less than 40 minutes, with 5 minutes to set up and 5 minutes to strike the set. Plays compete in Regional Festivals in groups of two or three plays per session. Plays are scored by a panel of judges, and Regional winners go on to the Maine State Drama Festival on March 22-23. Lincoln Academy has won Regionals and gone on to States 11 out of the last 12 years.

The LA play will show at 2 pm on Saturday, March 9, during the second of three sessions at Medomak Valley High School. Those sessions are Friday, March 8 from 6-9 pm (featuring Wiscasset, Vinalhaven, and Gray-New Glouchester high schools), Saturday afternoon, March 9 from 12-3 pm (featuring Cape Elizabeth and Freeport High Schools as well as Lincoln Academy) and Saturday evening, March 9 from 6-8 pm (featuring Oceanside and Medomak Valley High Schools).

Audience members hoping to see the Lincoln Academy play are advised to attend the entire afternoon session from 12-3, since seats are not guaranteed for individual plays. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
