As part of the Skidompha Library and Lincoln Academy Community Read partnership around the book “One Goal: A Coach, a Team, and the Game That Brought a Divided Town Together,” students in Lincoln Academy’s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Language and Literature Classes traveled to Lewiston to tour the Bates Mill Museum with their teacher, Lauren Crosby, on Tuesday, April 2.

At the museum students learned that immigration and integration is not new to Lewiston, which has a long history of emigrants looking for a new life. The Mill museum describes another period of vast change in the Lewiston Auburn area with the migration of the Franco-American community to the City to do the difficult and dangerous work in the textile mills along the Androscoggin River.
