Ceramics, Mr. Mess

ARTIST STATEMENT
I’ve always been told to always add texture. After every piece, I see why adding texture is essential. Not only does it look more alluring, but it adds to an untold story. I feel that taking away or adding to a piece is a way to express more through artwork. The way it’s shaped, curved, or what it is made out of will lead to multiple ideas. You can let the viewer’s imagination run or explain the story of your own art piece. Whether it’s a color added or an attachment, there are no limits into creating something with a purpose, especially ceramics. For that reason, each of my pieces are created in different ways. None are the same or close to similar. Maybe it’s just my beginner’s skills, but we don’t have to mind that. In closing, my theme for my artwork is, “distinct.” A piece can show various meanings, but my work doesn’t have a specific one. It’s an untold story.
