Chase Crockett ’20
Ceramics, Mr. Mess
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am Chase Crockett, I grew up in Bristol and I have always been around the ocean. I have worked on a lobster boat for most of my life. I like to use earth-like colors for my works. I also chose to make items that I could use in my houses, such as mugs and bowls. When making my tiles at the beginning of the year, I used molds of fish and other aquatic plants to create my tile. I also made a lobster boat tile. I never really planned my artwork further than what type of pot it would be. I enjoyed throwing on the wheel, but I also hand-built a few things. Ceramics class was an hour or an hour and twenty minutes, and it was a good way for me to relax myself before the rest of the day. The theme in my work was to use earthy glazes, as they provided the most diverse color combinations. This class opened up my brain to how creative I could be.

Chase, these are so beautiful. Your glazes are gorgeous and I love the foggy bottom tile. Really lovely.
Great job! I love the first piece “waves” its beautiful.
Beautiful and earthy: your blues really do look like electric water full of life and energy. You definitely have a knack for using glaze. Cool.
