Chelsea Williams ’20
Ceramics, Mr. Mess
ARTIST STATEMENT
My name is Chelsea Williams. My art always seems to reflect my interests and feelings. All of my work, with the exception of a few pieces, are beautiful greens and blues. These colors reflect my love of the outdoors! Growing up in Jefferson, Maine gave me many opportunities to explore and love the wilderness.
In ceramics, I love to handbuild and throw on the wheel. I spent most of my day in the ceramics studio. Creating something different with so many opportunities to make something great, it was a time where I didn’t feel stressed about anything. Ceramics was something I grew to love more than I expected and I am proud of the pieces I created!

You seem to enjoy strong colors besides the earth tones. I like them too. I especially like the bowls and the “white vines” platter. I’m guessing the “ceramics in the time of coronavirus” comes more recently … when you are more stressed (Aren’t we all!). All your art shows delicate creativity and I compliment you for it. Congratulations on your coming graduation. Will you study art further? Good luck in every endeavor.
Thank you very much!
These are so beautiful, Chelsea! I particularly love the bowl with the dripping glaze. It looks just like water and reminds me of being at the ocean. Gorgeous!
Thank you Mrs. Duffy!
I really love the bowls and the crackle mug! I’ve never seen something like the bowl with the blue dripping glaze and even through the photos I can tell the others would be comforting to cup my hands around. Beautiful work, congrats!
Thank you so much!
Your Sunflower was amazing, it must have taken you a long time to finish, it is so intricate all the petals and center. Great Job!!
