Haley Clifford ’22
Ceramics, Mr. Mess
My name is Haley Clifford and I have spent all 16 years of my life growing up in a small town in Maine no one really knows. Edgecomb. I am not the best artist but when I get the right motivation, my work won’t be too bad in the long run. I like to make things unique. “Kalopsia” is a word I like to think of. It means, “the delusion of things being more beautiful than they really are.” You don’t always need a big collage of colors and fancy designs. Sometimes less is more. I don’t always have a big plan when I start creating things with clay. I like to just go with the flow. A mistake is just an opportunity to make something new out of it. I remember a couple years ago I would always draw designs on my arm. It was always random and unique, squiggles and dots, etc. I would do it if I had a lot on my mind, or was upset, as an alternative to taking those emotions out on myself. Art is a useful and beautiful thing and I’d be happy to share mine with the world!
