Dear Residential Life Students, Families, and Agents,
This is graduation week – a time to wrap up the school year, reflect, and celebrate. It’s been an unusual and challenging spring in so many ways, but as we enter June here in Maine I’m finding a lot of comfort in all the things that remain the same about this beautiful time of year – the days are longer and sunny, the lupines and lilacs are blooming, I’m able to get out and enjoy nature and work in the garden, and even though we aren’t able to all gather in person to celebrate the end of the school year and the Residential Life Class of 2020, I’m still tremendously proud of our students and staff.
We’re finding new meaningful ways to reflect and celebrate this spring. All Lincoln Academy students should be in touch with their advisors to complete their Reflecting in Place project. Check out the virtual Arts Apart, Together show and leave a comment about your favorite pieces. Enjoy the special video presentation of Class Night on June 3 at 6pm EST, Baccalaureate on June 4 at 6pm EST and Graduation on the LA YouTube Channel. Celebrate Residential Life with a special Zoom version of our End of Year Community Meeting and Celebration. Details and links for all of these end-of-year events and more below.
We’re looking forward to reflecting and celebrating with you!

Reflecting in Place, 2020
Rather than holding final exams in a virtual format, this year all students will be involved in a culminating activity known as “Reflecting in Place, 2020.” The goal of this project is to provide the LA community with an opportunity to reflect upon the broad range of their experiences (academic, personal and social) during the third trimester. In addition to self-reflection, the interview portion of the project is designed to provide students both with a sense of closure for the year and with a sense of community within their advisory and the school as a whole. Students will meet with their advisors starting on May 26th to plan this reflection.
The complete details and expectations associated with this project can be found in the document Reflecting in Place, 2020. An explanatory video is also available, and exemplars created by faculty and staff are available online.
Students will complete this project with the assistance of their advisor. Projects must be complete in order for Trimester 3 grades to be finalized.
