Residential Life Update – September 13, 2020

2020-09-13T21:12:58-04:00September 13, 2020|

The official start to fall is still a week away, but the air has a certain crispness and the leaves are just starting to change color here in Mid-coast Maine.  While there is always excitement in the change of seasons, we continue to soak up all things summertime while we can – swimming, boat rides, fresh seafood, and hiking have all been enjoyed by residential students this past week.  We also had a wonderful time at Camp Kieve-Wavus last weekend challenging ourselves on the ropes course and paddling on Damariscotta Lake.

Next weekend is dedicated to service and we’re looking forward to working again with the Community Housing Improvement Project (CHIP) to build insulating window inserts.  This hands-on project will take place at LA’s Applied Technology and Engineering Center and is a great opportunity for students to learn new skills while helping vulnerable families in our community.  Click to read about some of our work with CHIP last year here.

Things continue to go well for our community as we start the school year.  All of our residential students in Maine have completed their on-campus quarantine and health screenings and moved into their dormitory rooms.  We wrapped up the second week of school orientation on Friday and students will start their hybrid classes on Monday.  Links below to school schedules, an update from the LA Guidance Office, and upcoming virtual parent meetings.  As always, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with any questions.
