While Homecoming is being celebrated a little differently this year, there is still lots of Eagle Pride and fun events to join. This year’s theme is “Celebrate the 80’s” and students have been decorating and looking forward to dress up days.
- Monday 9/28 & Tuesday 9/29: Dress up day: 80s!
- Thursday 10/1 & Friday 10/2: Dress up day: Black & White
- Socially-distanced activities on Thursday & Friday (1-2 pm during the extracurricular period) will include corn hole, a scavenger hunt, and the traditional search for spirit flags. Homecoming favors will be available.
- A coin slam to benefit the Red Cross will take place all week long.
LA students have embarked on a season of one act plays to continue building theater skills and entertaining audiences during the first trimester. With singing and dancing not allowed, the theater department will work with smaller groups of students in innovative productions that can be live streamed from the Poe Theater. Since August, the theater has been reconfigured for a combination of acting and film, with various backdrops, projection surfaces, greenscreens, etc. available to aid in production concepts that will be new to both young actors and their audiences. ...read more
About 50 people joined last week’s virtual Lincoln Academy Parent Association meeting to discuss the first weeks of school. You can find notes from the meeting at this link. Stay tuned for the next LAPA meeting in early October.
Student AP Exam Registration
Sign up for AP Exams will occur during the first trimester in each AP class. Payment is due by the end of March 2021. AP Instructors will be sharing more details with students in the coming weeks.
College Information Night – Virtual
On Wednesday, September 30 at 6:30 pm, Lincoln Academy will offer a virtual College Information Night for seniors and parents. Details of the college search and application process will be reviewed. Any seniors and their parents who plan to continue their education at any level beyond high school should attend this virtual meeting. Underclassmen and their parents are also invited to attend.
SENIOR MEETINGS WITH GUIDANCE COUNSELORS
Mrs. Abbott and Mrs. Blodgett are scheduling virtual senior meetings with guidance counselors on asynchronous days. Senior meetings are important as they help plan for life after high school whether it is college, military, or employment. Seniors will receive an invitation to a virtual meeting through their LA email including the Google Meet link, date, and time. The Guidance Office thanks the Class of 2021 for their patience while we schedule 120 senior meetings.
Virtual College Visits ~ SENIORS & Interested Juniors
Throughout the fall, college representatives will meet with students virtually and tell them about their programs, campus life, cost, financial aid, answer questions, and more. The first visit of the school year was Montserrat College of Art yesterday. ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS ~ PSAT:
On Wednesday, October 14th, LA will administer the PSAT/NMSQT to interested juniors. Juniors thinking about attending a four-year college or university are advised to take the PSAT, but it is NOT mandatory. Through their advisors last week, Juniors signed up for the PSAT. Please ask your student about this test. If your student does not remember, is uncertain, or needs help with transportation, email Ms. Gleason at email@example.com. Juniors not taking the PSAT must attend their regular Wednesday synchronous classes. There is no make up day for the PSAT and juniors must arrive by 7:45 am with dismissal around 11:30 am.
