We’ve had another lovely fall week here in Maine and students are getting ready for the celebration of Halloween next weekend with pumpkin carving, decorations, and costume planning. As I write, some of our braver students are making plans to gather and watch a spooky movie in KB Lounge. Other recent activity highlights include an outing to Down East Maine to visit “Haunted” Fort Knox and Colonel Buck’s “Cursed” Tomb, outside games, baking pumpkin treats, fireside storytelling, shopping in Freeport for much needed winter gear, and bowling. Our student athletes are making the best of an unusual season and can be seen practicing on the fields and sprinting around campus.
Admissions Director, Lu-Shien Tan, continues on his carefully planned travels to visit alumni and prospective students. He is in Brazil this week where a special meeting was organized with students who had to depart last spring when campus closed due to the pandemic. Thank you Mr. Tan for bringing our well wishes to these far away alumni. We look forward to a time when we can all be together again. Click here to read an update from Mr. Tan with students in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
A reminder that there are just four weeks remaining in the first trimester. Students should be tracking assignments and deadlines through Canvas. Please be in touch with teachers if you have any questions or concerns about completing work before the end of the grading period. Click Here for LA Faculty and Staff Directory.
Best regards,

Update from the Development Office
We want to thank our generous LA supporters who answered our call this summer. With your help, we raised nearly $20,000 for our special campaign separate from the Annual Fund. You have provided support to address goals centered on student equity in areas of technology and inclusion.
Last spring, we recognized that in order for all of our students to be successful in this current hybrid learning model, we needed to ensure LA families had access to technology at home. This fall, you helped provide Chromebooks, software, and portable internet hotspot devices to students who needed them for remote learning. In addition, your generosity funded essential professional development to better support the remote teaching work of our faculty.
In June, the administration met with current and former students and several faculty members who shared their experiences of the racial equity climate at Lincoln Academy, the local community and beyond. Our donors supported the launch of an inclusive process for all members of the Lincoln Academy community – students, parents, alumni, and faculty and staff – to better understand and participate in our nation’s diversity and equity dialogue for meaningful change.
Thank you for preparing us to begin the fall with a stronger footing and positive direction for our students and community members. We did this together!

MANY colleges and universities are test-optional this year (Test-Optional Colleges/Universities) and MANY of you will not need the SAT. For seniors wanting to test, LA will be administering the SAT on Saturday, November 7th. This is not a make-up test from the spring SAT, but is an optional exam that you will need to pay for. You can sign up for the SAT on Collegeboard.org. There are a limited number of spots and October 7th is the registration deadline. If you are uncertain about testing, please check out the link above or contact your guidance counselor. Questions or concerns? Email Ms. Gleason (gleason@lincolnacademy.org).
