Residential Life Update – October 4, 2020

2020-10-04T22:38:37-04:00October 4, 2020|

This week marks our third week of hybrid learning and the celebration of Lincoln Academy Homecoming including special events, decorations, and dress-up days.  Without large gatherings, Homecoming festivities have been more subdued than years past, but the greater community has been a tremendous support to LA with a new friendly competition for students to win Faculty Shield points while shopping in town.  It’s been wonderful to see signs of Eagle Pride displayed throughout campus and around Newcastle and Damariscotta.  Enjoy the virtual Homecoming Week Community Meeting on YouTube.

As we get further into the 1st trimester of school, please check-in with your student about their academic goals and progress.  Assignments and grades are available to students through our learning management program Canvas and teachers and staff are here to support students and answer any questions.

For some of our international students, this week is when they would celebrate the Mid Autumn Moon Festival holiday at home with family. It can be difficult to be so far from where you’re from, but comforting to share traditions and stories with friends. For our own small celebration, we headed to Costal Rivers Preserve for a moonlit walk on Thursday night with hot drinks and snacks. Our Res Life group hails from all over the world, but the bonds we build and experiences shared makes for a very close-knit community.  I’m grateful to be sharing this season with my extended LA family here in Maine.

Best regards,

Jake Abbott
