It’s been a happy Thanksgiving week for the Residential Life Program. Students and staff have had a chance to relax and celebrate the holiday and we are ready for the start of the new trimester. Highlights from the past week include a private movie screening, shared meals in the dorms including hot pot hosted by the Tan Family, a traditional Thanksgiving feast and celebration at Camp Kieve, a heated Uno tournament, and our usual Friday firepit. Our cohort is smaller than usual this year, but dorm living is the same in many ways and students are forming close friendships. Despite all the adjustments and challenges of the pandemic, I believe we will all look back fondly on this time together.
There are just three weeks of classes before winter vacation. This time of year in Maine is typically thought of as “dark and quiet” with cold temperatures and the shortest hours of daylight. It is a good time to focus on academic work, stay cozy with friends indoors, and enjoy a more quiet pace before the winter holidays. As a reminder, winter vacation is December 18 – January 3 and student travel will be restricted.
Classes will be all virtual this week out of an abundance of caution following the Thanksgiving holiday. As always, please don’t hesitate to be in contact with any questions.
Best regards,
