LA senior Jewel Farrin has been awarded the Maine Field Hockey Association Academic All-State Award. Farrin was a senior captain on the 2020 LA field hockey team.

This award recognizes outstanding academic achievement among Maine field hockey senior student athletes. To be considered for selection to the Academic All-State Team, the player must rank in the top 10% of her class and/or achieve a grade point average of 95 or better for three years, be a current member of the varsity field hockey team and been in the field hockey program for at least 2 years, have made a significant contribution to the team, and be a senior and of good moral character.

“Jewel was one of the three captains this year, demonstrating strong leadership,” said LA field hockey coach Amanda Armstrong. “Leading by example, she exhibited enthusiasm and dedication to the sport. Through her many years of playing field hockey, Jewel has a strong sense of the game and many skills, which she imparted to the younger players. This award recognizes her achievements in both field hockey and her academics. Jewel is very deserving of this honor, we are very proud of her.”
