Newcastle-based community choir, Tapestry Singers, provides an annual cash prize to a local student who demonstrates outstanding musical talent and potential. The choir is pleased to announce that this year’s award of $1,000 has been given to Lincoln Academy tenor, Brennan Cruz. This year has been a challenge for school and community choral groups. Brennan has remained an active and committed member of Tapestry Singers (directed by Beth Preston) and Lincoln Academy’s Lincolnaires (directed by Emily Anderson). He has also taken private voice lessons online. Tapestry Singers has continued to have strong support of community members and local businesses to help offset the costs of the year’s choral projects and make this award possible. Brennan will attend Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA and will study engineering. He intends to find an outlet for his musical talent by auditioning for a school choir or a cappella group.
