We are all hopeful for in-person graduation events this year and planning is well underway. Graduation is scheduled for Friday, June 4th. Here are the most up-to-date expectations for international travel for arrival in the state of Maine. https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/infectious-disease/epi/airborne/coronavirus/travel.shtml#international
Travel and safety guidelines change regularly and Lincoln Academy can not guarantee anything when it comes to travel, local accommodations, and end of year events. If parents of seniors are interested in attending for senior week events, contact Lu-Shien Tan and Jake Abbott so that we can compile a list of interested parties for further communication and dialogue about the process as we get closer to the end of the year.
2021 Graduation will take place at the Augusta Civic Center at 4 pm on June 4, 2021
The senior class and their families have spoken loud and clear: the Class of 2021 wants an in-person graduation that includes spectators.
Thanks to feedback from seniors and senior parents, we will take our beloved LA Commencement traditions on the road to the Augusta Civic Center, where we can safely host up to 900 people inside (no issues with rain!), hold our traditional ceremony complete with speeches and performances, and award diplomas to the entire class of 2021.
We have booked the Civic Center, which was available for our scheduled date and time: Friday, June 4 at 4 pm. While guest attendance is still limited, seniors will be given enough tickets to accommodate immediate family.
The rest of graduation week (June 1-3) is still in the planning stages, but events will include a class cookout on campus with a slideshow presentation of Class Night awards, and an outdoor Baccalaureate ceremony with live speakers and the graduates. While only seniors will be able to attend the Class Night slide show and Baccalaureate in person, they will be live streamed for families.
While dates of Senior Week events may vary due to weather and changes in public health conditions, seniors should reserve the afternoon/evenings of June 1, 2, and 3.
We are very excited to move forward with a robust schedule of celebratory events for the Class of 2021!
