“Attending a college fair that is held on a college campus is a great way for students to explore both the campus feel of a larger public university and also visit with universities from around the region and the world,” shared School Counselor Jose Cordero. Mr. Cordero took seven LA Residential students to an in-person college fair at the University of Maine Orono on October 6th. Normally an annual event, this was the first in-person college fair available to students since the fall of 2019.
“Students had a chance to eat at the local college pizza restaurant and our server there was a current student at the University of Maine too! We had a great time visiting each college table and speaking directly with college admissions representatives,” said Mr. Cordero. “The more experiences students have visiting campuses and speaking with admissions people the better prepared they will be when it comes time to make decisions about their upcoming college applications.”
Over 70 colleges and universities were represented from around New England, the US, and abroad. While Lincoln Academy’s Office of Career and Academic Counseling has been able to assist students with virtual college presentations over the past year, they are hopeful for more opportunities for in-person events and visits. Mr. Cordero is planning to take a small group of students on an East Coast College Tour later in the year. For more information, contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
