The edLab is studying celebrations that take place this time of year, including Christmas, Hanukkah, Boxing Day, Solstice and Kwanzaa, as well as those that may be more unfamiliar to us, such as Don Zhi (China), Toji (Japan), Yalda Night (Iran), and Shalako (Zuni). Students are learning about different foods, clothing and other traditions. They are also thinking about common themes, such as community gatherings and the importance of light during the shortest days. Discussions have led to sharing their own diverse experiences and traditions. It has been fascinating to learn about the world and each other!
The edLab is a small community of learners and teachers dedicated to rigorous academic and personal development through project-based, experiential and individualized education. Students of all aspirations are welcome as creative thinkers and change-makers, finding success in an environment different from the traditional classroom.
