Residential Life Update – December 6, 2021

2021-12-06T08:35:21-05:00December 6, 2021|

Early December

The residential community breathed a collective sigh of relief Sunday as we exited quarantine after a positive Covid-19 test result earlier in the week.  We have detected no symptoms, no signs of illness, and there have not been any additional positive test results.  We have completed comprehensive testing and contact tracing and have now resumed normal dorm life.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

On other good news, we will be welcoming six new students when we return from vacation.  These students are from Brazil, Italy, Germany, and Mexico and they are looking forward to spending the remainder of the school year in Maine.  Please join me in welcoming them to our community!

The second trimester is underway and first-trimester grade reports were sent to families by email earlier this week.  Please let us know if you have any questions about your student’s grades or academic progress.

With just two weeks until the December Holiday break, we’re looking to fit in lots of holiday fun and celebrations including decorating, holiday baking, a secret Santa gift exchange, formal dinner, and our annual holiday party.

Looking ahead, please be aware that after the holiday break there are two more school vacations when the dormitory will be closed:  Winter Vacation, February 19 – 22, and Spring Vacation, April 16-24. If your student does not have travel plans for the Winter Vacation they need to register for Winter Break Camp at Kieve-Wavus Leadership School.  The camp is located on beautiful Damariscotta Lake and activities will include snowshoeing, skiing, skating, tobogganing, relaxing by the fire, hot cocoa and art museums. The program fee for winter camp is $850. More details here:

Register here: We will be sharing some program options for Spring Vacation in January.
