May Events
Spring is a very exciting time on campus as students wrap up final projects, prepare for exams and get ready for end-of-year events. Our first spring performance is this afternoon’s Band and Orchestra Concert hosted at the Damariscotta Baptist Church and there is much more planned for the weeks ahead. Here are some highlights as we enter the month of May:
- AP Exams: Lincoln Academy offers a wide range of Advanced Placement Courses and we have 14 Residential Life students challenging themselves this year by taking college-level AP Exams during the month of May. These scholars have been working hard on their academic preparations all year and we wish them all the best! See AP Calendar here
- Student Art Show: Lincoln Academy’s Annual Student Art Show returns this spring after a pandemic hiatus and will feature work by Residential Life artists Angela Serantes, Gabs Hagar, Laura Duschek, and Eugenia Fuggetta. More details: https://www.lincolnacademy.org/2022/04/la-student-art-show-opens-may-4/
- Choral Concert: Our Spring Choral Concert will take place at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle on May 14. There will be a Live Stream link so fans near and far can listen in.
- Lincoln Academy Prom: Prom is Saturday, May 21 at 7 pm in the Dining Commons. Tickets are now available for all classes.
- Senior Tea is May 31 and is a traditional celebration for our graduating students hosted by faculty and National Honors Society members. This event kicks off our Senior Week more details here: https://www.lincolnacademy.org/graduation-week-2022/
The last day of school for grades 9-11 is June 9. As we approach the end of the trimester it is important for students to be in touch with teachers if they have any questions about assignments. Please let us know if you need study support or if you have academic concerns.
Sincerely,
Jake Abbott
Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life

End of Year Details
Closing the dorm and moving students out is an active and complex process. Along with departure dates (Seniors are expected to be out of the dorm by the end of the day on Saturday, June 5th, and underclassmen the following week, on Friday, June 10, 2022) we also include the process of packing and cleaning rooms, sorting items no longer wanted, supporting shipping of items that won’t fit in suitcases, and ensuring that records, medications, and other controlled items are accounted for. Please work with your son/daughter to ensure that they understand the need to be organized and efficient as we start asking them to take on these tasks.
For students returning to LA next year, we offer the service of summer storage of items on campus. Things must be boxed and well labeled. For anyone not returning, all personal belongings must be packed, disposed of, or shipped prior to leaving campus. These steps and dates are important to adhere to and with any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. We have already begun to accept Orah requests for end-of-year departure and the sooner those plans are confirmed, the easier it is for us to plan the details.
