Cindy Wade ’83 is the Lincoln Academy 2022 Alumnus of the Year

The Lincoln Academy Alumni Association is pleased to announce that Cindy Wade, Class of 1983 has been selected to receive the 2022 Alumnus of the Year Award. The award has recognized alumni annually since 1960 ”for a lifetime of significant accomplishments in the honoree’s profession and service to the larger community.” Wade will be honored at the 2022 Lincoln Academy Alumni Banquet on Saturday, June 11th in the Alumni Dining Commons.

Cindy Wade has deep roots in Lincoln County both personally and professionally. She grew up in Sheepscot Village and attended local schools, including Lincoln Academy.

While in high school, as a volunteer with Central Lincoln County Ambulance, Wade realized her passion for caring for others. She graduated from St. Joseph’s College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and later earned her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the college.

In 1987, Wade joined the Navy as a Commissioned Officer and Nurse, gaining valuable experience in many facets of care during the next six years. Her work included Intensive Care, Emergency Care, Outpatient Services, Cardiac Care, education and training. The opportunity to travel the world expanded her horizons and fulfilled her dreams of world travel.

The robust clinical experience combined with the US Navy core values of honor, courage and commitment established a strong leadership foundation that Wade has carried throughout her career.

When returning to Maine in 1994, she resumed her journey at LincolnHealth. She took on additional areas of responsibility over the next two decades, serving as Manager of the Medical Surgical Department, Director of Quality and Patient Safety, Chief Nursing Officer, Vice President of Patient Care Services, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In 2018, Wade became Regional Chief Operating Officer overseeing LincolnHealth, Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital.

In 2021, Wade fulfilled a career goal of becoming President of LincolnHealth. In her role as president, she leads LincolnHealth with a deep commitment to the communities and the innovation of MaineHealth.

“We are proud to claim Cindy Wade as an alumnus in the LA class of 1983,” said Phil Page, President of the LA Alumni Council and graduate with the LA Class of 1970, who will preside over the Banquet on June 11 in the LA Alumni Dining Commons. “She has accomplished so much in her career, and we look forward to celebrating her at our Alumni Banquet–the first we have held in person since 2019.”
