Residential Life Update – October 24, 2022

2022-10-23T23:26:29-04:00October 24, 2022|

The Days are Getting Shorter

We’ve had a lot to celebrate in the LA community this past week!  Boys and Girls Cross Country teams are KVAC champions (congratulations to Nick Young, Maja Wolffgang, Luca Tomasi, Arsen Mikaelyan, Flora Angyal, and Ashley Nixon ), our Boys Soccer Team are KVAC Class B Champions (congratulations to Ralph Zoorob, Gabriel Meleiro Luna, Lucas Puig Martorell, Pablo Jimenez Duran), Debate Team had an excellent tournament (congrats to Nandor Gero for placing 2nd), Math Team won the October meet and placed first in the Central Maine Math League (congrats to Changshen Li, Florian Leverenz, Nandor Gero, and Violet Duong), and multiple birthdays last week to round it all out.

We still likely have several weeks until snow flies, but daylight hours are getting shorter, temps dropping, and we are beginning the process of shifting more of our energy indoors.  With the changing seasons, please be thinking about winter sports, events, and travel.  Remember that we are closed December 17, 2022 – January 2, 2023 and students or families need to have plans submitted in Orah by November 18th.  Please mark your calendar for the upcoming school vacations in November, December, February, and April.

We are now in the second half of the trimester and mid-trimester progress reports were sent last week by email.  If you have not received grades, please be in contact with Monica.

Update on Chickenpox in the Dorm:  While we still don’t have a full medical understanding of how this occurred, we are working with local health authorities to understand it.  We have now moved all of our students who were impacted out of quarantine and are working to regain normalcy in the dorm.  We will continue to monitor things closely and address all health-related concerns promptly.

As always, please be in touch with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jake Abbott
