November Updates

We’ve had beautiful weather over the past few weeks, but much colder temperatures are ahead.  Shopping trips over the coming holiday weekend are a good opportunity to purchase winter gear.  All students should have a warm jacket, snow boots, snow pants, hat, and gloves to be ready to enjoy winter activities.

The end of the first trimester is just two weeks away and coincides with the start of Thanksgiving break.  Please pay close attention to assignment deadlines and be in touch with teachers and staff with any questions or concerns.

Thanksgiving break is November 19-27 and is our first vacation of the school year.  The dorms will remain open, though some students may take advantage of this time to visit friends and family off-campus.  Travel plans should be submitted through Orah as soon as possible.  The Residential Life program provides holiday activities for all students remaining with us in the dorms including a traditional Thanksgiving meal at Camp Kieve and each student will be invited to attend Thanksgiving celebrations with local families from our community.

Mark your calendar for the upcoming school vacations in December, February and April when the dormitories will be closed.  We do have some special programs offered during breaks including Winter Camp at Kieve-Wavus in February and a trip to Washington, DC in April Students or families need to have plans for December break submitted in Orah by November 18th.

Students with November Deadlines:

Once you submit your applications, many schools will send you an email and invite you to login into their portal to check the status of your application. That email will come with login credentials. Please sign into the portal and continue to check your portal regularly until your application is complete and ready for review. If there is something missing, please let your School Counselor know ASAP!  Please keep this information organized (use a note on your desktop, start a Google doc with this information, write it down somewhere and keep it safe) because ultimately this is where your decisions will be posted. Please continue to check your email and these portals regularly and stop into the CAC office with any questions.
