Senior Tristan Gammon and junior Peter McKitrick at the University of Maine in Orono’s Future Music Educators’ Day.
On Tuesday, October 24th, LA senior Tristan Gammon and LA junior Peter McKitrick spent the day at University of Maine in Orono for Future Music Educators’ Day. Along with 20 other prospective high school students from the state they spent a “day in the life” of a music education major. Gammon and McKitrick sat in on music education and conducting classes, participated in Collegiate Chorale rehearsal and even got to have a private lesson with nationally renowned instrumental teachers Jack Burt (trumpet) and Beth Wiemann (clarinet). Both students left with incredibly enriching experiences to further their musical careers as well as their very first conductor’s batons!
