Sheryl Stearns joined Lincoln Academy in July of 2012 and is going into her 13th
year of international admissions. Previously, she created and built a boarding program for another independent school in Maine and was the Director of International Recruitment at a university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a child growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, she read voraciously and dreamed of traveling abroad. Her studies at Middlebury College changed the trajectory of her life and launched her on the path of all things international. So far, she has traveled to 50 countries on six continents and has studied, lived, and worked in Germany, Zambia, and Thailand. One of the highlights of her time overseas was studying in Germany during the fall of the Berlin Wall. She is passionate about social justice issues, globalization, and providing educational opportunities for students in the U.S. and around the world. She finds admissions work especially rewarding because of the relationships she is able to build with students and their families.
When she’s not wandering through the woods or paddling down a river, Sheryl can be found working on her 1888 Victorian farmhouse in Edgecomb. She loves spending time with her two children, singing, playing piano, and exploring Maine and northern New England.
