David Sturdevant grew up in northern Illinois -- a bit north of Chicago and west of Lake Michigan. He earned a BA in literature with a minor in music and education at Wheaton College (IL), where he also met his wife Elisabeth. After teaching in the Chicago suburbs, they moved to Vermont, and four years later, in 1985, to Maine. During that time he earned an M.Ed in Educational administration and supervision from Plymouth State University. During the early 90’s he completed a doctoral program in educational leadership at the University of Maine. After working at an independent town academy in western Maine for 28 years, as English Teacher, dorm parent, Curriculum Coordinator, Alternative School Founder and Director, Assistant Headmaster, and Principal, he moved to Newcastle in 2013, to become the Head of School of Lincoln Academy. David and Elisabeth have three children and six grandchildren.
