Steve Sullivan is a native of nearby Rockland and Camden, Maine. He served in the United States Coast Guard at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, and afterwards completed his B. A. in History at the University of Maine at Orono in 1984, and received his Master's degree in History in 1987. Steve was chairperson of the History and Social Studies Department for 20 years and teaches Advanced Placement European History, United States History, and Psychology. He has been a member of The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Council for the Social Studies, and the National Council for History Education, as well as the New England Historic and Genealogical Society, the Maine Historical Society, and the Maine Genealogical Society. He enjoys genealogical research and writing, and has published in the major journals in that field. He resides in St. George in a home he designed and built in 1990.
