With over 160 courses, 40 clubs and sports, a beautiful campus and a warm, friendly community, Lincoln Academy has something for everyone. We know that choosing a high school is an important decision and are happy to answer any questions you might have. One of the best ways to decide whether we are the right school for you is to visit our campus or give us a call. We are happy to arrange a shadow day and tour for you.

For students residing in Maine towns WITH SCHOOL CHOICE:
If you live in the following towns, you have choice of where to attend high school: Alna, Bremen, Bristol, Chelsea, Damariscotta, Edgecomb, Jefferson, Newcastle, Nobleboro, Palermo, Port Clyde, Somerville, South Bristol, Southport, St. George, Tenant’s Harbor, Westport Island, Whitefield, and Windsor. If you are not sure about whether your town has choice, please contact your town office to inquire. Students who live in towns with high school choice should file a Proof of Residency Form with their town office. If Proof of Residency is established, the sending town will pay tuition to Lincoln Academy.

For students residing in Maine towns WITHOUT CHOICE of high school:
There are no entrance exams for day students and students may enter in any grade, 9-12. Tuition for day students from towns without choice is $14,500, and must be paid by the family.

Lu-Shien is a self-professed foodie and adores exploring cultures by sampling street food, and engaging local traditions.

He grew up in Singapore where he had an education combining rote memory learning from Singapore schools and 3 years of self-directed study at Hong Kong International School. This unique educational experience likely enabled him to enroll at Baylor University when he was 16 years old and graduateĀ 4 years laterĀ with a Statistics and Marketing degree.Ā 

Shortly after graduation, Lu-Shien returned to Singapore to complete national service duties then began working at his father'sĀ management consulting company as aĀ corporate trainer and business development manager.Ā Ā 

A few years later, Lu-Shien fired himself from that job to find his own way as a yacht delivery and charter captain, fishing guide and sailing/powerboat instructor.Ā 

In 2000, Lu-Shien married Monica and moved to live in Central Texas, working various roles with CompUSA, Enterprise-Rent-A-Car and was even a realtor and boutique caterer for a while.

This broad spectrum of cross cultural and customer service experience came together when he moved his family to Penang, Malaysia to serve an American International School as their Admissions Counselor, departingĀ 4 years laterĀ as a Director of Admissions.Ā 

In the Summer of 2018, he moved his family from San Francisco to Newcastle to serve Lincoln Academy. His wife Monica is a dorm mother at Hall House. His son Ian graduated from Lincoln Academy in 2019 and currently attends University of Arizona, pursuing a double degree in Neuroscience and Bassoon studies. His daughter Aria is a senior at Lincoln Academy and is an Ambassador, a passionate thespian, and planning to do Marine Studies at Nova Southeastern. Lu-Shien hopes that his passion to share authentic stories about our school will soon draw a wide breadth of future Lincoln Academy students to our community.

Mrs. Petersen has worked at Lincoln Academy since 2015 and sincerely enjoys the one-on-one interactions she has with students from all over the world. Before LA, she taught high school boys at The Deck House School in Edgecomb, Maine.Ā  Mrs. Petersen is active in the local community and volunteers with the AOS93 Adult Education Board and theĀ  North Nobleboro Community Association. She loves reading and gardening in her spare time, but most of all, spending time with her husband and two children in midcoast Maine.

Eliza Mathews Gleason joined the Department of Career and Academic Counseling at LA in 2019.Ā  A 2007 graduate of St. Lawrence University with an M.A. from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Eliza and her husband have recently moved back to Maine. Prior to her move back to Maine, Eliza served as Associate Director of College Counseling at The Rivers School in Weston, MA and before that held the same position at Suffield Academy in CT.Ā  She has worked in college admissions at Trinity College in Connecticut, Syracuse University, and New York University. Eliza and her husband reside in Durham with their son, Benny, and adorable goldendoodle, Lola.

Jose Cordero : School Counselor

Mr. Cordero grew up among the lobstermen and women of Owls Head Maine. Ā  He spent his youth playing music, participating in theater and dreaming of one day working for NASA.Ā  Eventually finding passion within education he turned his focus toward college by attaining his Masters Degree in Higher Education Student Development and then spending 15 years working in college admission, academic advising, new student orientation and multicultural student affairs.Ā  He's recently returned to his roots here in Maine after working for the University of California-Berkeley.Ā  Mr. Cordero serves Lincoln Academy students as a School Counselor and mentor.Ā  In his time off he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young and adorable sons, sailing, working on old cars, and taking long road trips.

Alicia Lemar : School Counselor

Ms. Lemar is joining the Lincoln Academy Guidance Department with both the passion and experience to help students with their academic, career, and life goals. A 2015 graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelors degree in both history and psychology, she then completed her graduate program in 2018 from the University of New England with a MA in Social Work. Ms. Lemar has served as a Guidance Counselor at both Vinalhaven School and Spruce Mountain High School. At Lincoln, she serves as an advisor, mentor, and career and academic counselor.

She enjoys spending time with her husband and rescue dogs, Willow and Grayson, and can often be found on adventures doing her favorite thing, being a "dog mom." Ms. Lemar also loves living in this beautiful state and exploring outside in the changing seasons as well as traveling abroad, and running.

Alexa (Colby Dodge) Abbott was born in Damariscotta and grew up in Edgecomb. Alexa lives on Westport Island with her husband Jason and daughter, Mara. While at Lincoln Academy Alexa has worked as an Educational Technician, a Jobs For Maine Graduates Job Specialist and most recently as an Administrative Assistant in the Guidance Office.Ā  Both sides of Alexa's family have deep roots in the Damariscotta area.Ā  Her mother and father graduated from Lincoln Academy in the 1960's.Ā  Alexa enjoys her home on an island where she feels fortunate to be able to see a deer, osprey and harbor seal all in the same day!
