Advisor is a central program at Lincoln Academy and it will continue meeting in both in-person and virtual sessions. Advisors will continue in their traditional role: acting as the primary adult for students and parents to contact with concerns. Advisors will coordinate grade level activities, provide another level of academic oversight, and generally support students in navigating high school.
- Advisors will be tracking student grades and engagement throughout the year. If they are concerned about a student, advisors will support classroom teachers by communicating with parents and coordinating additional support through the Student Services Team. If necessary, students will be connected to an educational technician, social worker, or guidance counselor to help them resolve any issues they may be experiencing.
Residential students will be living in the Kiah Bayley Hall dormitory this school year and attending LA along with day students. These students are all undergoing a two week quarantine and COVID-19 testing before being allowed to interact with the Lincoln Academy community. Residential students will participate in academic and extracurricular activities in the same format as day students. They will spend their virtual days working remotely in the dorm.
The schedule includes time for virtual and in-person meetings of clubs. We expect that most of our clubs and groups, including student government, should be able to operate. Extracurricular performing arts and H period classes will continue to meet after school during a set afternoon schedule.
Students will eat lunch in their advisor classrooms, maintaining social distance of 6 ft or more. Students may bring lunch or buy it from the Dining Commons. Students will be allowed to remove their masks while eating.
Recommendations from the Maine Principals Association are changing based on public health best practices. Currently preseason practices will begin on August 24, and the regular season will begin on September 9. The most up-to-date athletics plan can be found at this link.
Guidance & College Counseling
Guidance counselors are available when students are on campus, through email and through virtual sessions via Google Meet or Zoom. In the fall, guidance counselors will support seniors as they plan for life after high school and will connect with freshmen to help them transition to Lincoln Academy. They are also a resource for any student requiring emotional or academic support during the year.
