Resident Life Update – November 18, 2019

Resident Life students hosted the 2nd Wing Dinner of the year on Sunday. This time the young men of Hall House worked together with their dormmates to plan, prepare, and serve a special meal for the community.  The menu represented the diverse tastes and backgrounds of our student cooks and the food was enjoyed by all!  Many of our students also recently volunteered to lead tours and give presentations to future LA students and their families as part of this year's 8th Grade Family Night.  Thank you to everyone involved for making these events fun and successful for our [...]

Resident Life Update – November 11, 2019

Students are returning to classes Tuesday after a holiday weekend in honor of Veterans Day.  Activities over the extended weekend included an exciting game of Dorm Family Feud, swimming, and ice skating.  Our first snow flakes fell over the weekend and some students took advantage a shopping trip to Portland to purchase cozy winter clothes. Stormy weather kept students inside the dorms on Halloween night, but they didn't hold back from silly games and room-to-room trick-or-treating.  After the storm, students ventured out for weekend activities including a trip to the historic seaside village of Bath, roller skating in Portland, and swimming at the Boothbay YMCA. December Vacation is just over a month away and the dorms will be CLOSED from December 21-January 5.  We are working hard to collect student travel plans and need your help. Resident Life Update – October 28, 2019

This past weekend included our first wing dinner hosted by students who live in the Green Wing.  The eclectic menu of borscht, stir fry, New England clam chowder, rice joloff, and crepes reflects the creativity and diversity of our student hosts, who not only planned, prepared, and decorated for the special event, but also served their fellow students and staff.   Each dorm group will have an opportunity to prepare a special meal for the community this year. Jacob Abbott

Jake Abbott has been a part of the LA community since 2006. Jake has worked in a variety of roles at the school. Currently, as the Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life he is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the schools residential population and the various departments that support it. Jake also supports the operations of the school, shares in the management of student discipline, and supports many student programs, extra-curricular activities and initiatives to get students involved in learning and exploring new opportunities. Jake is also very involved in the local community serving as a member of the Newcastle Fire Department, where is also on the Board of Trustees. Jake is also on the Board of Directors at Central Lincoln County YMCA.

Sarah Kennedy : Vacation Programs Coordinator, Outreach and Administrative Assistant
Sarah Kennedy

Sarah Kennedy '00 grew up in Pemaquid and went on to study Spanish and International Relations at the University of Maine and University of Costa Rica.  She coordinated volunteer education programs and fundraising for a small non-profit organization in Nicaragua and then went on to join Sustainable Harvest International as the Director of Development and later transitioned to working as a program director specializing in outreach and service learning programs in Central America.  In 2012, Sarah took a position with AmeriCorps and Santa Clara University's Center of Sustainability to develop school garden and community nutrition programs in San Jose City Schools.

In 2013, Sarah’s family had the opportunity to return to Maine and was excited to become a part of Lincoln Academy’s new Residential Program. Sarah developed LA’s homestay program and loves welcoming students from around the globe to our community here in the Midcoast. Sarah works part-time as support staff in the Resident Life Office and is also a member of LA’s Website Team and Grant Team.
