University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center: Summer Research Opportunity for High School Students

The Darling Marine Center in South Bristol is seeking summer researchers. High school students, including rising freshmen and recent graduates, have an opportunity to learn about marine ecology while getting muddy in the Damariscotta River estuary. Sarah Risley, a University of Maine graduate student based at the Darling Marine Center, will lead a team of undergraduate and high school students to measure the population, type and size of shellfish, such as soft-shell clams and oysters, and their predators at several sites in the upper Damariscotta River intertidal zone. Round Pond Marine: Current students and recent grads

Round Pond Marine  is seeking part time and/or full time employees, including older students who might be looking for immediate income this summer and beyond. Work is outdoors and often on the water and includes float & mooring installations and dock and float building. Carpentry & boat handling skills are ideal but can also train the right person. Drivers licenses preferred as work locations are Bremen to Damariscotta. Most days 7:30am-3:30pm but hours can vary with the tides.

Camp Med-O-Lark

Camp Med-O-Lark is an arts camp in Washington, ME, for children ages 8-16. We offer the campers an array of all elective arts-based programs which the staff help instruct/supervise. We are located on a lake and have swimming and boating activities offered as well. The Camp has been in business since 1967. Our session dates this summer are from June 13th – Aug. 17th.

We are currently interviewing for positions in our Dining Hall. We are looking for High School/College Student Staff to help work in our Kitchen. This job entails helping with: Volume Food preparation, setting up for meals, desserts, Salad Bar, washing dishes/kitchen/Pot equipment, keeping the Dining hall clean and other job functions.

It is a great work environment with busy times and down times throughout the day – it can be a lot of work at times and requires a good work ethic, but is great place to be during the summer! Most of our Staff who work with us stay for many years – as long as they can – before they have to go off to full time jobs. We will have availability of hours as we serve breakfast lunch and dinner 7 days a week and have many shifts available.

Midcoast Conservancy seeking Courtesy Boat Inspectors

Midcoast Conservancy is seeking applications for paid, part-time Courtesy Boat Inspectors (CBIs) for the 2021 summer season. Courtesy Boat Inspectors are the first line of defense against invasive aquatic species leaving or infesting Maine lakes by hitchhiking on boats, trailers, and other equipment. CBIs will work during weekends and holidays at boat launches on Damariscotta Lake, speaking with boaters and conducting inspections of watercraft as they are launched and removed from the water, ensuring they are not transporting any aquatic species.

Requirements. This is a seasonal, part-time, non-exempt position. Courtesy Boat Inspectors work weekends and holidays and some weekdays for approximately 7 – 21 hours per week. The season begins on Memorial Day weekend (May 31) and ends on Labor Day weekend (September 6). Applicants must be available on weekends and holidays. CBIs work by themselves at public boat launches. CBIs will receive training before beginning inspections, and must be comfortable working very independently and interacting with the public. This position does not include housing or transportation.

Other requirements include:
• Excellent communications skills with the general public
• Considerable attention to detail
• Strong ability to work independently
• Interests in invasive aquatic plant or water quality issues and education
• Must have reliable transportation to and from public boat launches on Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson and Nobleboro

Compensation
Courtesy Boat Inspectors earn $12.15 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Damariscotta Police Department Parking Enforcement Officer

P/T position – 35 hours per week (Parking Enforcement Attendant) Minimum Salary $12.15 hr. {This is a non-law enforcement position}.

Responsible for the enforcement of parking laws and regulations including maintaining orderly parking in the community. Patrols the downtown area for the purpose of observing parking violations using a bicycle and on foot. Investigates complaints of parking violations and issues citations and/or warnings for parking violations. Arranges for vehicles to be towed or booted, as necessary. Testifies in court cases concerning citations. Minimum requirements: Interested applicants must poses a strong work ethic, professionalism, patience and a willingness to learn the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job. Valid Maine driver’s license is required.

Routine work related to the enforcement of parking regulations; all other related work as required. Works up to 35 Hours per week supporting parking enforcement activities. Will occasionally cover additional time due to special events and construction projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Moderate to strenuous physical effort is required when performing work. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and in various weather conditions when issuing tickets. Good close, distant, and peripheral vision is required for detecting violations, and issuing tickets. Ability to identify and distinguish colors in order to identify vehicles and work safely in traffic

This is a seasonal job and it runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The position is typically a 6-day work week but there is some scheduling leeway available. Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust seeking Courtesy Boat Inspector

Join Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust this summer as a Courtesy Boat Inspector (CBIs). CBIs are a first line of defense against potential boat “travelers”, aquatic invasive plants and animals hitching a ride from one body of water to another – invasive plants can severely damage water, degrade wildlife habitat and decrease recreational opportunities. CBIs are stationed at local boat launches (Pemaquid in Nobleboro and Biscay in Damariscotta) to check incoming and outgoing boats for plant hitchhikers, help to share the news with the public, and collectively stop hitchhikers from entering our waters.   • Shop manager—performs many of the above tasks/duties, oversees daily duties of other employees, has the opportunity to make ice cream, and has more responsibility, with higher pay. Must be at least 20 years old. Part or full-time position. Previous experience working in a direct customer service job required.

(EMCTS) is currently seeking Behavioral Health Professionals to work within our Specialized Rehabilitative and Community Supports (RCS or Section 28) program. The program provides medically necessary behavioral health services for children with developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), in the greater Bangor area. BHPs work under the direct supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Licensed Clinical Psychologist. BHPs provide services to clients aged 2-20 within the client’s home and community settings. Services are typically provided during after school, evenings, and weekends. Summer nanny/camp counselor-type needed for 2 young girls in Christmas Cove (recent grads)

June 28 – August 27, 2021

We are seeking a summer sitter to care of our girls Monday to Friday from June 28 to August 27.  Hours would be approximately 8:30am to 5:30pm. We are also open to a job share situation, if two people want to split the days within a week, or split the weeks within the summer.
