Boothbay Region Water District, full-service water supplier in Maine, is looking for a resourceful utilities technician in the Boothbay Region for full-time employment.

Examples of Work Performed:
- Cleans, calibrates and installs water meters. Installs water service to new customers.

- Knowledge of Water Treatment and Distribution System Operation.
- Ability to install and repair services in accordance with appropriate plumbing regulations.
Knowledge of the physical configuration of the District. - Ability to communicate effectively in dealing with customers.
- Ability to operate maintenance, construction and vehicular equipment assigned to the District.
- Ability to pass Class II Water Operator’s License within two years from the date of hire. Ability to pass Class III Water Operator’s License within four years from the date of hire.
- State of Maine Class C Drivers’ License with a safe driving record.
- Must live within the town limits of Southport, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Newcastle or Damariscotta.
General Description of Work:
The employee reports to and works under the direct supervision of the Water District Distribution Foreman and performs a variety of tasks related to the operation of the system. Skilled heavy labor is involved in the upkeep and maintenance of the Water Distribution System. Work assignments may be issued by office personnel as necessary in response to messages received at the District’s Administrative Office. The individual is scheduled by “On-Call” status for emergencies arising outside of normal working hours. Individuals working in this classification must be reliable and resourceful for they are required to respond in emergency situations and use independent judgement in resolving problems. Unique to this position is the necessity for close coordination with the Administrative Office and Northeast Security to assure that the Utilities Technician can be contacted during usual hours of work and when “On-Call.” Prompt response to calls of a routine nature is mandatory to assure customer service and in emergencies may be critical in order to avoid property damage.

Entry level machine operators–must be 18 years or older. If you are thinking about a machining career or would like to see if it is something you would be interested in, we would be happy to train you.
The Horizontal Mills and Vertical Mills Operator is responsible for operating the CNC machine to produce quality parts for Masters Machine customers, reading and interpreting blueprints, planning sheet, sketches, and other related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings and machining methods. The Operator follows all established safety guidelines and is responsible for general preventative maintenance and communicating any maintenance needs to the Cell Manager.
The Screw Machine Operator is responsible for setup and operating one or more of the screw machines (Davenport, Wickman or Euroturn) equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanism to perform turning, boring threading & facing operations on metal bar stock, analyzing specifications and deciding on tooling according to knowledge of screw machine operations. Reading and interpreting blueprints for dimensions of parts, tolerance, and plans sequences of operation, selecting cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts & cutting tools to be used based on experience & knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics. The Screw Machine Operator follows all established safety guidelines and is responsible for general preventative maintenance and communicating any maintenance needs to the production manager.

Bath Regional Career and Technical Center is partnering with AGC Maine, the Associated General Contractors, to offer Maine Construction Academy.
Maine Construction Academy through Bath Regional Career and Technical Center is a six-week training session in which accepted students will:
- Gain Skills in Multiple Trades
- Earn Certifications and Credentials including OSHA, FIrst Aid & CPR and Rigger/Signal and complete NCCER Core Curriculum.
- Visit Work Sites and Meet Industry Leaders.
- Have Guaranteed Interviews with Prospective Employers and Apprenticeships. (For students who complete the program and enter an apprenticeship, this experience and training transfers into that apprenticeship!)
- Receive a $1200 stipend upon completion of the program
The course is offered at Bath Tech July 10-August 18 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm daily.

- Counting oysters

- Coveralls and boots are required and employees must know how to swim.

Midcoast Conservancy is an innovative conservation organization with strategic land, water, and community programming. Our mission is to protect vital lands and waters on a scale that matters. With an office in Edgecomb, Maine, our service area includes all of the Medomak River, Sheepscot River, and Damariscotta Lake watersheds.
Are you passionate about protecting and improving the water resources of Midcoast Maine? Midcoast Conservancy is seeking applications for two Youth Conservation Corps Crew Member positions. The Youth Conservation Corps program protects and improves water quality in the region by installing projects that reduce erosion and sources of polluted stormwater runoff using conservation practices. Projects will primarily take place in the Damariscotta Lake watershed and may include but are not limited to planting vegetation buffers, stabilizing shoreline, installing runoff diverters, and landscaping to soak up or divert runoff.

This is a seasonal, part-time, non-exempt position for 8 weeks from late June to mid August. Crew Members typically work for 20 – 30 hours per week, which varies due to project demand and weather. Applicants are also encouraged to consider Midcoast Conservancy’s Courtesy Boat Inspector positions, which may be worked in combination with the YCC schedule. This position does not include housing or transportation, however, work-related transportation may be provided and work-related mileage is reimbursed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform physically demanding outdoor labor on a daily basis installing landscaping and pollution control projects
- Complete work thoroughly and efficiently, with high attention to safety
- Work in a team environment and be courteous of landowner requests
- A driver’s license is not required, but you must have transportation to our office in Edgecomb
Qualifications
- Be energetic, passionate about the outdoors, and responsible with a positive attitude Strong ability to work with others to complete a project
- Willingness to learn about pollution control practices and interest in environmental stewardship
- Ability to communicate clearly with other crew members, supervisor, and occasionally landowners
- Willing and able to conduct manual labor outdoors on a regular basis in a variety of weather conditions, ability to lift 50 pounds
- The recommended minimum age is 16, however, we will consider exceptional 15 year olds
Compensation
The Youth Conservation Corps Crew Member earns $13.80-$15.00 per hour based on experience, paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Artist’s Studio Cataloguer/Assistant (Part-time, Temporary)
Seeking someone interested in fine art, sculpture, photography, and fine art archive creation. The purpose of this position is to create a digital catalogue and archive of extensive artwork in a sculptor’s studio. Duties require the successful candidate to photograph and catalog sculptures, and prepare descriptions to include media, base, and sizes. Some sculptures may require installation of a base and/or touchup repair.
